Nah, it's not too bad.  We can at least solve the problem I'm  
suggesting we solve, which I think was your original request too.   
After that we can see if we want to turn our attention to the larger  
dependency-chasing issue, or perhaps decide to punt the ball to CPAN/ 
PAUSE/search or something.
