A couple pluralities in the pod.
I don't like that it returns the return value of the default subs and
the everything-is-a-sub thing, but I don't have the time to work on it.
The conundrum is that if 'sub {time}' is your default, I'm pretty sure
we're at risk of handing around a stale scalar somewhere in there. So,
we're not getting the feature that would be implied by this and I think
making it guaranteed non-stale might be a more extensive change than
history will allow. If you can give me a write-up which clarifies that
we're not going to get stale values, then ok. Otherwise, I'm inclined
to restrict the 'default' param to static values.
