rationale:
This module is similar to the existing PDL::netCDF module. While
the PDL::netCDF module provides an interface to netCDF format
datafiles, this module provides an interface to HDF5 format
datafiles. Information on the HDF5 format is available at the NCSA's
web site http://hdf.ncsa.uiuc.edu/
The PDL::IO::HDF5 namespace was chosen for this module, rather than
the PDL::HDF5 namespace, because it fits in with the other IO
packages that are bundled with the main PDL distribution
(PDL::IO::FastRaw, PDL::IO::FlexRaw, etc).
This choice of namespace has been discussed on the PDL mailing
list, and met with approval, See
