This module would provide an interface to the Gnome MIME functions.
Currently I'm planning to support gnome-mime, gnome-mime-info and
gnome-fileconvert as specified here:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/libgnome
These functions provide for discovering the MIME type of given file
(ala File::MMagic), getting information about given MIME type from
the Gnome MIME configuration and coverting files from one MIME type
to another.
Support for Gnome's MIME functions could be added to the Gtk-Perl
project but my aims for this module are probably incompatible with
Gtk-Perl. I plan to produce a "Perl-ish" interface to the Gnome MIME
functionality which will probably be different from the
straight-line XS style of the Gtk-Perl package.
