As I've mentioned in other e-mails, the interface is oriented towards
simplifying user input and it's impact on stored (or new) text. It also
provides handy functions to simplify rendering for fixed-width font rendered
GUI or console widgets.
If anyone needs a refresher on what I'm talking about I can always resubmit
the full proposal again.
