The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  modid:       Crypt::SHAVS
  DSLIP: adpOp
description: Interface to NIST SHA Validation System
  userid: MSHELOR (Mark Shelor)
  chapterid: 14 (Security_and_Encryption)
  communities:
emails with Gisle Aas, the other principal SHA developer on CPAN

  similar:
    None

  rationale:

NIST uses the SHA Validation System (SHAVS) to check both BIT and
BYTE implementations of the Secure Hash Algorithms. The SHAVS
specifies particular formats for short, long, and
pseudorandomly-generated test messages and their expected digest
values. NIST uses the formats to document the large number of test
cases on their site. The Crypt::SHAVS module will give Perl
programmers the ability to read the formats and to automate the
checking of their SHA implementations. Moreover, the capabilities
will extend to the testing of upcoming SHA-3 implementations as
    well.
