The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:
modid: CSS::SpriteMaker
DSLIP: RdpOp
description: Create CSS image sprites with complex layout
userid: DARKSMO (Savio Dimatteo)
chapterid: 15 (World_Wide_Web_HTML_HTTP_CGI)
communities:
#london.pm on IRC, and prepan.org
similar:
CSS::SpriteBuilder
rationale:
This module can be used to generate CSS image sprites out of
individual image files, allowing fast rendering of web pages.
Compared to existing solutions, CSS::SpriteMaker supports smarter
layouts, and composition of layouts (i.e., layouts of layouts). For
example, through the DirectoryBased layout one could lay out the
images in the canvas alphabetically, depending on the subdirectory
in which the images are contained.
With CSS::SpriteMaker it is easy to implement new layouts. One just
needs to extend the CSS::SpriteMaker::Layout base class and define
the position of individual elements (boxes having a certain height,
and width) in the canvas.
It's based on the Image::Magic module.
