     why:

Immediately, a DBD::Pg fork with proper support for the PostgreSQL
asynchronous interface, that is, support for async connect and async
prepare and without hidden synchronous operations, as are presently
present in the cancel function and in the code which automatically
starts transactions when AutoCommit is disabled.

The DBD::Pg maintainer is either not interested in this or
generally unresponsive and we also have some differeing ideas about
sensible features for this driver, in particualar, wrt handling of
already started asychronous queries when a new query is to be
started. I think this should be an error. The existing module thinks
it should either cancel the old query or wait for it synchronously
    and throw away the result.
