No, because the connection can die/timeout/load balance/whatever anytime
and you need to open it again.

Anyway I am not concerned about how to rewrite my code in order to solve
this, but I am interested in knowing if this is a bug to be solved or a
limitation to be documented. In mod_wsgi, that is.

It could happens that I finally move all the project to a standalone
webserver instead of a wsgi application, for several reasons (paying a
price I would rather not pay) but, in any case, this issue is something
to investigate and solve/document. I think... :-).
