I often wonder how Concorde ever flew as it was a collaboration between the
UK and France engineering with a mixture of imperial and metric but it was a
great lesion to us all what could be achieved with a bit of co-operation.

Still miss it after all these years.

Also seems the latest theory of why the good ship Vasa sank on it's maiden
voyage in 1628 was that the carpenters measured in feet - unfortunately the
Dutch foot, used by the Dutch carpenters on one side of the ship didn't
match the Swedish foot used by the locals on the other side...
