| I went to watch qualifying on Saturday afternoon - it was difficult to get excited about watching a grid of just 13 cars (only 9 of which were LMP2) circumnavigating Donington for 6 hours on the Sunday - and also a lot cheaper. It was good to see them put in five or six laps on Saturday though. I don't know how many people attended on the Sunday, but there appeared to be more people at the MSCC day than there were at qualifying! It was a shame really as the weather was great and the racing paraphernalia on display was second only to a full blown Grand Prix. It's also difficult to tell the difference between the various makes in LMP2 - and there's no way that as a spectator you could say that the "name" was in the public eye as it's practically invisible on either the car or the transporter. The LMP2's are quick though - lapping the full circuit in around 1 min 20 seconds. To give you an idea of how quick that is - the IMSA Porsche GT3RSR Le Mans race car was lapping in the 1 min. 30's The paddock was more interesting than the circuit though. There was a new +8 and a three wheeler tucked in between the transporters. I thought that this looked rather cute!
