Appears to be a re-badged Mitsubishi. See below from Wikipedia.

Lonsdale was a marque <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marque> of car sold in
the United Kingdom <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom> by
Mitsubishi Motors <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Motors> between
1982 and 1983. It took its name from the industrial suburb of Lonsdale
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonsdale,_South_Australia> in Adelaide
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adelaide> , South Australia
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Australia> where Mitsubishi Australia
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Australia> had an engine
production facility. The only car sold under this brand was the Lonsdale, a
badge engineered <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badge_engineered> Mitsubishi
Sigma <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Sigma> . It was sold as the
Lonsdale YD41 and the Lonsdale YD45.

Although the Sigma was merely an Australian version of the Mitsubishi Galant
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Galant> which was already
available in the UK, the company's plan was to circumvent the "gentlemen's
agreement", a voluntary import quota which limited Japanese
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan> -manufactured imports to 11 per cent of
the market. However, the idea proved unsuccessful and most of the cars
imported by Lonsdale remained unsold by the time the company ceased trading.
Mitsubishi continued to sell the vehicle in the UK for 1984, although
rebranded as the Mitsubishi Sigma
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Sigma> as it was already known in
its local market.

Looking through an old Yachting Monthly I came across an advert for Lonsdale
Cars. Australian. Anybody ever seen one apart from Australians ? Were they
any good ?

Just curious.

Brilliant sailing today, and Alford tommorrow. Does life get any better in
retirement ?
