Originally the road fund licence exempted cars over 25 years old, but this was subsequently changed to cars built pre 1973. I guess the lessons learnt there are being applied here so, for the foreseeable future, will only apply to pre-1960 vehicles. In time perhaps the powers-that-be will see sense and change the relevant dates (when we're all too old to care!)
