Thanks -- I didn't know about the "disable" command (so much to learn, so little time :-). Anyway, I'm still interested in this because I find my config file easier to read/update now that my hosts aren't spread across multiple hostgroup lines. Remember, this is optional (you can choose not to use the hostname directive). :-) ...dave
