When you ask questions like this, the answers will be more forthcoming
if you supply the relevant excerpts of your mon.cf file.
I have two monitors using dns.monitor on the same hostgroup:
monitor dns.monitor -zone example.com -master 10.2.1.3 -soa no
monitor dns.monitor -zone example.com -master 10.2.1.3
This way I can get separate alarms for SOA problems vs. non-SOA problems.
