I have submitted the issue on the new tracker ([1]). I slightly
changed the patch so the empty main BAT is not saved to bat->bid, as
this caused inserts done inside a transaction not to be committed.

Is there some documentation on the meaning of 0 == bat->bid with
respect to the stored data?
