Hi, I am using monit to monitor the postgres service is up, currently it does this via a standard connect to the 5432 port. However this is causing an issue in the postgres server log as monit connects to the port but sends no data to postgres so postgres logs and incomplete startup error. To overcome this i think monit needs to actually connect to the database as a user and then exit, (which would probably be a more valid test). Is there a way to do this or and suggested enhancement?
