Hi, yes. This make sense. We are using monit on some machines which are not reachable (costumer machines) and there it would be nice to have a check like this. Just on idea :-)

The reason why it is designed this way is, that if automatic recovery attempts failed several times, admin's assistance is necessary to recover the service, after which the admin can enable the monitoring again using CLI: "monit monitor <servicename>" or using monit's web interface.
