You could try overriding CC with gcc followed by arguments, can't check right now whether I did that (usually that's only necessary for 64-bit builds). The ./configure output should indicate the sizeof(void*) as 4 if compiling 32-bit, obviously. I don't know the Fedora buildsys so am clueless what rejecting might deliver as output - do you have access to config.log or any other source of log messages? NAnt, MonoDevelop and Boo I haven't tried on that platform.
