Ok, I see the problem. (Mono is a CLI-Interface and not .Net-Eviroment) I tought, all the System.* routines had to be rewritten. But now I understand, this is not the case. So BitConverter is as it is. Period!
Ok, so I have a new question: How to detect the hardware-platform (PPC<->Intel)? How can I deside, if I have to change the order of bytes? Thanks Andreas
