For an IDE you can use Eclipse, Zoltan Varga has made a great deal of progress in
getting C# to work with Eclipse.
You could also run Visual Studio .NET with WINE, but I don't know anything about how
to do that.
You could also check out C# Studio: http://csharp-studio.sourceforge.net/
Personally, I develop using vi and the command line compiler, but that's just me.
If you are having problems building the debugger, you might want to either set
MONO_PATH to the location of your mono binaries, or you could install from source
(which really isn't that painful, just time consuming).
For papers and such like, you could try www.gotmono.com or the wiki at
http://www.nullenvoid.com/mono/wiki/

I collected some (still beginners level) C# experiance with MS.Net an am
very interessted in MONO.
I have to admit, that I am a beginner with linux also.
I am using SuSE Linux 9.0
After reading through quit some www. pages about mono, buying a book (the only
one available on the german market) and downloading and installing the recommended
rpm's:
- mono-0.28-1.ximian.7.1.i586.rpm
- mono-devel-0.28-1.ximian.7.1.i586.rpm
I am now ready to start....but how?
Well, I have done the "hello.cs" and it works, but now I would like to setup a
acceptable developement enviroment
(remember , I made my first steps in C# with visual studio.NET and therefore
am a little fastidious).
So here are my "beginners" questions:
- Which IDE should I use?
- How can I get it installed and working?
- Is there a graphical Development Enviroment at all?
- How can I get the mono debugger to work?
I tried to build it on my machine, but I can't get beyond "configure".
Configure keeps complaining "Cant find jay".
- What is jay, and what do I have to do to get it working on my machine?
May be there is a paper out there in the www that some one has written who
went through all this already? That would be greate!
Sorry, if some,many, maybe all of these questions sound stupid, but as I said
I am a beginner concerning this subject and I hope to find some one who can get me on
the way.
