The rpms for Fedora Core work fine. As it also does when I've compiled it from source. What it sounds like to me is that you have an old version of either wine, winelib or the mono stuff on your machine and that's messing things up. Happened on my laptop a while back. Remove the old wine and mono packages and start again.
