The server is using mono/C#, and the code was written in Visual Studio. The client app is in C# in Visual Studio running on a Windows box.
It seems the pattern to this error is that it only happens when one of the expected arguments for the web service function is a System.DataSet object. If I take out that argument, it works fine. But put in the argument, even if I don't use it, the error gets generated. Note that _returning_ a DataSet works fine.
