GTK works on Windows and Mac in addition to X. I believe this is the
preferred cross-platform solution for Mono.

Are you sure that a Mac user accepts GTK layout? I'am not. Mac user
accepts Mac (Cocoa) ...

I have tried some of this, most without success. This is no user friendly
way for installing a user application.
So a wait some years again.
