Thank you Atsushi for the quick fix and turnaround. Unfortunately I can't benefit directly, as my problem was in MonoTouch. However I did manage to make a workaround for the issue, by using the KnownTypeAttribute on the base class of my DataContract.
I should say that I had to specify the types directly in the attribute. Using a method didn't seem to work here, either. Perhaps the same problem?
