To start with, I have absolutely no knowledge of dot-net, silverlight, mono or
moonlight. I am somewhat familiar with the principles of virtual machine
languages, such as java, ruby, and powerhouse.

I am investigating the use of a Silverlight based web app as subscription gift
for
my son. The difficulty is that we use Apple OSX 10.7 or CentOS-6.2 based boxes
and Silverlight is available for neither. I have tried using Moonlight as a
plugin for Firefox but hat does not work on OSX or Linux. Is there any hope of
somehow using Mono on either or both OSX and Linux to enable use of the native
MicroSoft Silverlight plugin for Firefox on either platform?

I suspect not but I would like to be sure one way or the other.
