just wanted to note that the original merge had issues on non-gcc as it
depended on static object initialization order. this was fixed now, but
led to code that requires boost 1.33.1 (in monotone.cc:730 - options()
doesn't exist in 1.32.0).
we either need to bump up official boost requirements, or somehow work
around this interface change in boost.
