To be more precise, an ask.com search found
http://www.gnu.org/software/binutils/manual/ld-2.9.1/, but that's out
of date ('ld --version' reports 2.15). ld used to be part of
'binutils', but the binutils manual at
http://www.gnu.org/software/binutils/manual/binutils.html doesn't
actually document 'ld' itself.

The snippet for [gnu ld documentation] mentions the most recent
release is 2.17, and [gnu ld documentation 2.17] brings up
http://sourceware.org/binutils/docs-2.17/ld/index.html
"This file documents the gnu linker ld version 2.17."

(I used Google. It looks like the Ask snippets are shorter and don't
contain this.)

On the other hand, the binutils homepage has a link to documentation
that has a link to the above ld doc. Maybe that's more direct. :)
