I think Miguel just committed a fix to MonoDevelop 2.6x for this (I guess MD was expecting MonoTouch versions > 4.0.4.1 to use USB debugging instead of socket debugging?) so it should be included in MD 2.6RC3. Can you file a bug at http://bugzilla.xamarin.com and make sure to note that the "Debugging Host" had been set to "automatic" but that it didn't work? I'm not sure what other info we'll need, but if we need anything else we'll poke you about it.
