Before taking over California, Arnold Schwarzenegger hit the jackpot
playing the ruthless, relentless, leather-clad cyborg known as The
Terminator. Director James Cameron's blockbuster sci-fi thriller
begat two sequels (so far), coined a few extrememly durable
catchphrases ("I'll be back ..."), and turned one
Austrian bodybuilder with minimal acting credits into a superstar.
This lean, mean, inventive low-budget sci-fi/action flick about a
machine from the future sent back to the mid-1980s to assassinate the
mother of humankind's future savior also features a smart screenplay,
great performances (including Linda Hamilton as mother-to-be Sarah
Connor and Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese, protector from the future),
killer pacing, and Bill Paxton as a smart-alec punk rocker.
