On April 6th we'll be joined by screenwriter/director Gordy Hoffman
(Love Liza, A Coat of Snow), who will screen three of his short films
and will critique each short film brought in that night. In addition
to his film credits Gordy is the founder of the BlueCat Screenplay
Competition -- widely considered one of the best screenplay
competitions for finding and fostering undiscovered writing talent --
and he teaches screenwriting at University of Southern Calfornia's
School of Cinematic Arts.
Red Meat’s Max Cannon hosts the biggest and best short film contest
in town - just bring us your short films and we’ll play them on the
largest movie screen in Southern Arizona.
There’s just one catch: the audience gets to vote for their
favorites, and if they don’t like your film, it may get "gonged" off
the screen; but it’s all in good fun, so sit back, buy some beer and
pizza and enjoy your friends’ and neighbors’ cinematic masterpieces.
Each month’s winning filmmaker gets a $100 cash prize (sponsored by
The Tucson Film Office), and will move on to face 11 other monthly
winners in the End of the Year Showdown in May 2007.
This year’s grand prize is $500 cash and a red carpet premiere
screening of your film at The Loft. The winning short film will also
be played before a regular feature here at The Loft and will screen
for at least one week.
