"Intelligent, involving and conspicuously adult, Starting Out in the Evening is almost shocking in its distinctiveness, its ability to create high drama from an unlikely source."
- Kenneth Turan, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES

Best Male Lead:
Frank Langella
Best Screenplay:
Andrew Wagner and Fred Parnes

Meet acclaimed indie writer/director ANDREW WAGNER when he visits The Loft to present his critically-lauded new drama STARTING OUT IN THE EVENING, adapted from the novel by Brian Morton, and featuring a stellar lead performance by Frank Langella (Good Night and Good Luck) as an aging writer struggling to complete what could be his final novel, while also dealing with his troubled adult daughter (Lili Taylor) and an ambitious young graduate student (Lauren Ambrose) who has insinuated herself into his life. STARTING OUT IN THE EVENING is Wagner's second feature film, following his 2004 debut THE TALENT GIVEN US. This quirky home movie / road trip comedy, starring the writer/director's own family, caused a sensation among critics and audiences at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, and heralded the arrival of a major new filmmaking talent. Mr. Wagner will introduce his new film and participate in an audience Q&A at the 7 pm screenings on Friday, February 29th and Saturday, March 1st.
(Andrew Wagner, 2007, USA, 111 mins., PG-13)
