West Marine, Boat U.S., etc., carry a telescoping outboard tiller/throttle
extension that attaches with no special tools and can be mounted/removed
with each use: I own one. It has a rubber grip and feels just like the
actual tiller/throttle itself: Very convenient. I forget the name, but I
remember the product was reasonably priced.

Subject: M_Boats: outboard tiller

When I aquired my boat it came with a 4hp mariner on the original fixed
motor mount. I have found that when motoring I have to reach back a
ways to hold the tiller which feels rather ackward (compared to the
little fishing boats that I grew up with). Do any of you use an
extension on your outboard tiller? Should I stop whining and just get
used to it?

Here's hoping for an early ice-out!
