Rich, A small truck will generally have a light duty automatic and I personally would choose the manual instead. If you do choose the automatic then I would say a transmission cooler is a necessity as well as annual servicing of the transmission (at least change the fluid once a year in the spring). Also, check the fluid before each trip. Heat kills automatics and even slightly low fluid levels can cause the automatics to heat up. Mark Dvorscak M17 #400 GRACE
