I took my M-15 rudder apart 4 years ago, srtipped the old finish, sanded and restained it. I final coated it with a product called Dura-Tuff. The label says "Replaces varnish, More Scratch Resistant, Faster cure and Greated UV protection." Anyway its been on for four years and still looks very nice. I dry sail most of the time and when I do moore the boat for the summer, the rudder/tiller is stowed in the cabin. Still, I would use the stuff again on any similar project.
