I made the boom vang for my M15 using Laser vang parts (WM) and pop
riveted a stainless "saddle" T-slot to the boom (like the one in the Dwyer
illustration) instead of a bale. Works great and didn't cost anywhere near
$73. I have not had the problems Morris indicated. On the plus side, even
if the line does fray a bit over the years, a couple of feet of rope is
cheap to replace. I also believe that a boom vang is essential on an M15,
especially if you move the mainsheet to the aft end of the boom as I did.
