I tried ice boating once when I was 14 years old. Manhasset Bay (Long Island) froze over in 1962. Some friends let me take their "boat" out for a few minutes. I was going about 50 mph on a jittery ice surface. Is it different than water sailing? You bet it is. What a rush. Not much chance of doing that again as I live in Mesa, Az now.
