Connie, Just an FYI Our laser level has two modes: one is a dot the other is a horizontal line (e.g. set it on something level and it will show you a line all the way across). So the latter might save you a lot of work . I think they sold in the 20-30 dollar range (mine was a gift) or maybe you could borrow one?
