Bill P.

I've wondered about something like that step mounted on the rudder - I was contemplating a cutout in the rudder into which I could slip my foot to give me (literally) a leg up so I could use my swing step more easily. I'm not sure the rudder pintles and gudgeons could take my 185 lbs. They hold my mast well enough in the stowed-for-travel mode but the difference in weight between the mast and my mass is substantial. However, the weight would be pretty much sheer so it might work - although with rough sea effects some nasty leveraging might occur. I think I'll give it a try with some c-clamps and a block of wood to test the capacity of the hardware. Thanks for the idea.
