Sorry I forgot I was the author of this, or I would have replied earlier. I think I will go by the boat Monday to air the sails (it rained Saturday - go figure). I can take more measurements if you need them. I lowered the boat 1 1/2 to 2 inches with the new bunk brackets. I should move the axle forward as it is a little tongue heavy. However, it tracks great on those high speed cannonball dives down the mountains of W.Va. I also would go with a board down the middle to support the keel, rather than rollers.
CBC 2003 was great. Thanks to Doug for the planning and especially to Howard and Tod for snagging my jib halyard after it parted. Very nice to meet those sailing as well as our distinguished visitors and hope to see everyone soon. I had seen only one Montgomery (mine) and now have lots of boat improvement ideas. That was actually the first time I slept on the boat, and I need to be better organized for next time. (Located the shroud adjusters I thought I left at home in the glove box.) I thought Jerry built a nice looking boat but Bob that M-17 you built for Clarence is a real knock-out. No bugs on the way back to Reedville from Tangier, but I had to dodge several of those destroyer sized fishing boats. They converged in front of me from every direction. At first I thought they were headed for a bouy but then I saw three planes circling overhead, so I guess they spotted a big school. Got home and the wife wanted to go racing. The club was having practice races this weekend. I think we were the only rookies. We got some good starts, but I need a genoa for the finishes during the light summer breezes. And a bimini for the heat. Anyone want to form an investment club and buy that M-23? Just don't tell the admirable it was my suggestion. steve Steve R. Also I know nothing about Macs, but the MSOG menus are in _javascript_ so make sure your browser is set to see _javascript_ (different from Java). You may want to buy a book or find a web site with more info on Macs. It's almost imperative these days to upgrade computers every two years or so to keep up with what's out there. Here is what I did... too early for much math.
The first set of measurements are from the driveway to the boat/trailer. Actually to the top of the bracket - bottom of the bunk board.
The second set are from the bow back. Middle of the bracket.
The third set are from the centerline to the right side. Middle of the bracket.
My trailer has three ^ribs^. There is a support from each rib for the bunkboards.
Units are inches.
1) Vertical
Driveway to stem 67 3/4
Driveway to front bunk support 29 3/4
Driveway to mid bunk support 29 even
Driveway to rear bunk support 30 even
Driveway to bottom of keel 19 even
2) From bow back
Stem to front bunk support 80 1/2
Stem to mid bunk support 116 1/4
Stem to rear bunk support 150 1/2
Stem to c/l of axle 98 1/2
3) From centerline out
Centerline to front bunk support 22 1/4
Centerline to mid bunk support 22 even
Centerline to rear bunk support 21 1/2
Not guaranteed to hold up in a court of law, but should get you close.
Not necessarily the most optimum arrangement - I plan to move the boards out and higher.
