Hi Bill.. My M-17 came with a small mast head light. I replaced it with one from West Marine. Wiring and a wiring connector to the mast were already installed.
I re-wired the mast by attaching the new wire to the old and pulling it thru. I can't remember the W-M part number, but it wasn't very expensive (about $25) and attached with no problems.
