I pull Sweet Dream with an old F150 short wheelbase. I don't see the need
for trailer brakes (I drive on flatland - no mountains). I am going to
inspect the wheel bearings this spring on the new pacific trailer, hopefully
there isn't any water in the bearings. I did sail last friday but lost wind
halfway across the bay. Bones - Winter is a little cool here in LA (lower
Alabama), had to wear a tee shirt over my swim trunks, oh well.

incursion problem, while still allowing
water to drain "out" effectively. Personally, I wouldn't want to raise my

could avoid it, because I wouldn't want that "knees at your chin" dingy feel
you'll get in a Com-Pac 16', or
Seaward Fox. At 5' 0" tall, I am probably the shortest Montgomery sailor on
this list, yet the height of the
M17 cockpit benches is perfect for me, and I wouldn't want to lower it by
raising the cockpit floor: Just my
personal preference. Of the boats I've sailed, including a Flicka 20' and
Cal 25', the M17 has the most

styrofoam, which would be melted by the resin. This is one of those 'might
do' projects, second in line behind making a kick-up rudder.

I have been contemplating trailer brakes for the Trailrite trailer for my
M15.
What kind of brakes are you using? Electric or hydraulic?
Are you happy with them? .......or would you change to something else?
Drum, or disk?
If you had to do it again from scratch, which way would you go, and most
importantly, .....why?
I am hauling the M15 with my VW Jetta VR6 wagon.

Hi Connie and listers,
I rebuilt my M23 trailer summer before last. The stock Trailrite trailer
needed new squarestock welded in, the winch support rebuilt, new coupler and
master cylinder, brake lines, brakes, and paint.
Sounds like a big project, but actually, the Trailrite is built from
component pieces that were easily replaced.
The brakes are drums, hydraulic, and the complete backing plates are
available with shoes, wheel cylinders, springs, etc, all preloaded and bolt
up. Very easy.
For the M15 and M17, you will need to add the master cylinder/coupler, mine
is an Atwood. I have it welded on. Then add the brake lines, also available
as a kit.
A local supply store, Pioneer Wheel, had everything I needed and in stock.
Fellow M23er Theo also has refurbished his trailer in the same manner.
PS, I used Rustoleum primer and paint, brush applied.
