Leading the jib halyard to the cockpit is pretty handy.  Mine turns through a block at 
the base of the mast, then to a cheek block, then to a clam cleat next to the jib 
sheet cleat.  In combinatin with a downhaul, I have good control over the sail.  
Leading the main would be more troublesome as my main uses a boltrope rather than 
hanks and likes to be fed up and down.
