Sure, you'll have to fill the existing mounting holes and prepare the new holes in 
such a way as to protect the core, but it's a fairly easy process (believe me, I'm not 
particularly handy, and even I can do it...).  But it's a good idea to figure out how 
to deal with the deck regardless, because you'll find you need to master this routine 
if you have to change deck hardware or do repairs anyway.  

Just invest a few bucks in west system materials and go for it.  Don't even work on 
the boat--you can practice on something else.  Judy Blumhorst has some good tips at:
