Larry, Yeah, I've begun thinking about my next boat lately. Pretty sure 
it's gonna be an M-17.

I got laid-off from Boeing last July after 25 years. So, I'm back in 
school without a whole lot of time the until summer of 2006 when I can 
officially retire. Pretty weird huh? Seems I get to go to school on the 
governments dime as a dislocated worker. So, why not.

Anyway, your trip to the San Juans sounds like a blast. I had fun with 
the Potter group. Too bad they're not as active as they once were. 
Sailing with other people in similar boats really doubles the fun and 
diminishes a lot of the apprehension associated with sailing unfamiliar 
territory. I remember getting caught in 20-30 knot winds and whirlpools 
(tide change through a channel) down in Boston harbor. Not as bad to be 
freaked out when there's other's in the same situation.

Maybe I should offer to crew until 'my ship' comes in.
Until then, I'll be hiding in the floor cracks here.

The San Juan / Gulf Islands rendezvous is still in the early
planning
stages, but there are already 16 boaters on the trip e-mail list.

probably be the biggest of the year in the northwest.
