Norm,

We have a 9 ft. inflatable we have towed behind our M-15. I really like to have
a good rowing inflatable on trips. The inflatable weighs 45 lbs. Your Kayak
would probably tow better than our inflatable. I think the Kayak would sit more
on top of the water than the inflatable. Anyways.... in calm conditions the
inflatable tows well. If there is ANY chop at all, the drag placed on the 15 by
the inflatable is too much! The 15 slows by 1 knot or more. In conditions like
this we deflate and stow it.

Subject: M_Boats: Pulling a large kayak with an M15

I'm wondering how much the sailing characteristics of an M15 would be degraded
by pulling a 12' 6" kayak. I have a Hobie Outback which is just 2' 6" shorter
than the Monty. Has anyone experienced pulling anything this large? The
Outback weighs 64 lbs.

The good part about this kayak is that with it's Mirage drive system (peddle
power) it can tow the Monty. I was going to sell it for something smaller but
thought I would get some opinions on it first. This is what the kayak looks
like: http://www.yourcommunityweb.com/kayak.htm .
