Hi Doug

I don't think so. The M_15 deck is cored with 1/4 inch balsa. AND on the mast
area from port to starboard there is an EXTRA lamination of balsa and glass.
This forms a bridge, with the natural curve of the cabin top.

This extra lam/core area can be seen by looking below; you will see
a thicker area in the forward part of the cabin that forms this curved bridge.

No metal was ever used in the construction of Jerry's boats. (or mine)

Rick,

Yes it is cored with balsa but under the mast plate
there is a metal brace that spans the cabin. It is
about 1" wider than the mast plate.

Thanks

Subject: M_Boats: Cabin roof structure

Can someone tell me if the M15 cabin roof is cored
or solid fiberglass? I
guess I'll find out when I drill the holes, but I
just want to plan my
approach before I drill. The area I'm concerned with
is around the mast
step.

Thanks,
Rick Langer
