I have wrapped up my 17 for winter slumber, I had one last sail for the
year. The weather was awesome and I got a chance to work off some calories
from thanksgiving. It is a little early but rough northerns like to sneak up
on us in south Texas, the last one blew in at about 40+ knots. This will
tear into any boat in a slip and being as light as they are our boats can
really do the mast dance. Anyway my original 1974 sails are tired and its
time to start thinking " New Sails" for the next season. I remember a couple
of threads on this and recommendations. But presently I am awaiting acces to
the archives ( I forgot my password) so before I bring up a subject already
discussed, I have a different tack. I remembered that sailrite sells a sail
kit for the Montys. They have mains, jibs, and genoas. I remember talking to
Wayne, I believe, and he had ordered the jib kit and was pleased. Has anyone
ordered the main kit? There seems to be a standard kit using 4.5 oz Dacron
the kit sells for $360.00 probably around 400 after all is said and shipped.
How much have you all been paying?
