Amongst owners of my previous boat design, it was common for them to use
electric motors. I didn't, I have a gas outboard so used it. These boats
only weighted in at 600 lbs or so and heard stories of folks being let
down, not being able to make any headway against a small chop or wind
and complications that rendered the motors useless (why they weren't
sailing is beyond me).
Personally, I would not use an electric on an M15. Just my 2 cents worth.

Though I was thinking about something the other day: around the time
I bought my boat I had a book called "Sailing on a Microbudget" or
maybe Cruising on a Microbudget? It was about pocket cruisers like
the WWP. Anyway, either in there or in SBJ at about the same time,
someone wrote about using a trolling motor instead of a gas motor on
these boats. I seriously considered it, doing mainly lake sailing at
that time. Has anyone on the list tried a trolling motor (and thus
battery) in their M15?
