That makes me glad that I bungee'd the hatch couple weeks ago when
moving my M-17 from MA to VA at somewhat high speeds.
Of course 700 miles of turnpikes, Interstates and bumps uncovered a port
a john that I had not discovered before purchasing. It looks permanent
with a hose going to a deck pump out? Huh.
She was quite filthy so there has been a lot of cleaning inside and
out. Found that one of the bolts for the bottom grudgeon had apparently
been leaking. Took it off and potted it with 3M 4200 sealant. Did not
seem to have compromised the core from what I could tell. And stuck a
new radiator hose on the drain as the existing one looked original. She
had some water in the "bilge" that apparently sat for some time. It
seems to have rusted some studs sticking up through the glass of the
hull here and there (I found them the hard way scrubbing about blind).
Anyone know what these are?
BTW I have been using a variety of products to clean and buff out the
boat. I purchased a circular buffer, some 3M imperial rubbing compound
and am following that with the restorer with wax from 3M. Got it at
Jamestown distributors. All in all it is coming out quite nicely.
Also working on filling and fairing some blistered areas from shrink
wrapping that apparently trapped water next to the hull. Many very
tiney blisters. Kind of a pain.
All in all though, nice to have a larger boat to play with.
